More prison violence; Ga. Senate vs. Fani Willis, Round 2

*Two inmates are dead, and nine others injured at three separate state prisons within three days, according to officials with the Georgia Department of Corrections. Joan Heath, Director of Communications tells WALB 9 inmates were injured with non-life threatening injuries Thursday at Wilcox State Prison in what appears to be a gang-related altercation. They were treated at local area hospitals. Heath reports that no staff was injured during the altercation. Then on Sunday, Sinjuan Harmon was killed after an altercation with another inmate at Valdosta State Prison. He was serving 20 years for an armed robbery out of Fulton County. On the same day, Dooly County Coroner Brett Walls confirmed to 13WMAZ 45-year-old man was found dead inside Dooly State Prison. Pending results of an autopsy, that unidentified man’s exact cause of death is currently unknown. No other details were released in that incident.  

*A panel created to investigate Fulton County’s district attorney is going to continue its probe this year. The state Senate voted Monday to allow the committee to dig deeper into funding and the conduct of D-A Fani Willis. Her office was removed from the 2020 Georgia election interference case after a decision from the Georgia Court of Appeals last month. Democratic state lawmakers called the investigation a waste of time and bedroom politics – and some hinted that they may not participate in any new investigaion.
