*A weekend mass shooting in DeKalb County leaves five dead including two children. Police are calling it an apparent murder-suicide. It happened in apartment Saturday night. The victims include a 1 yr old boy and a 5 yr old girl. Officers now call it domestic related and say the other victims are a 43 yr old woman, a 32 yr old man, and a 26 yr old woman. No word on their relationships, the circumstances, or a motive.
*Congress could soon approve Georgia’s 1st national park. It would be the Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park near Macon. Tracie Revis with The Muscogee Creek Nation says they built the mounds before Europeans arrived. The full U.S. Senate could vote on the proposal by Dec. 1.
*Emory University has created an injectable HIV preventative they are calling a “ground-breaking breakthrough.” The drug is designed for people who struggle to consistently take daily oral medications. Dr. Valeria Cantos, an Associate Professor at Emory, says Lenacapavir still needs FDA approval, but she expects it to be available commercially in 2025. Fox5 Atlanta reports, however, that some people are concerned about the drug’s affordability with some estimating it could cost over $40,000 per year.
