Fire departments from several nearby communities, including Hall County, assisted Forsyth County firefighters in fighting a fire at a landmark downtown Cumming business Sunday night.
The fire at Goodson Drug Store, which has been in business since 1959, was reported about 7:00 resulting in the closing for several hours of some downtown streets. The first crews on the scene reported “a lot” of smoke coming out of the building. The fire was contained to the drug store, which was closed at the time, and there were no injuries and no other businesses were damaged.
In addition to Hall County, fire departments from Cherokee and Dawson counties and the city of Alpharetta assisted the Forsyth County Fire Department.
