The average temperature in Gainesville this summer was 2.4 degrees above normal.
The National Weather Service (NWS) Peachtree City office reports that is the warmest of any of the nine reporting stations in north and central Georgia included in the area it serves. The average daily high in Gainesville was 89.6 degrees. The warmest day was June 26 when a high of 98 was recorded. The data comes from the NWS station at Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport and covers June-August and is included in the agency’s Summer 2024 Climate Summary.
Rainfall in Gainesville, meanwhile, totaled 10.85 inches for the three months, 2.53 inches below normal. Three reporting stations – Columbus, Macon and Fulton County Airport – each recorded a rainfall deficit of more than five inches.
