The state patrol on Monday provided details about the accident that occurred Saturday morning on Holly Springs Road and, in turn, created a hazardous materials situation.
Troopers say the driver of a box-type truck owned by a Columbus pavement marking company left the road, struck “several small trees” while spinning out of control and overturned down a steep embankment. A propane gas tank ruptured and began leaking and “other unknown hazardous materials” began leaking into a nearby stream, prompting a response by the Hall County hazmat team.
The driver, Jeremy Kroger, 31, Cleveland was seriously injured and taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville. A passenger, Emery Morrison, 42, Cleveland received minor injuries but was not taken to the hospital.
