Oakwood man charged following violent domestic dispute

An Oakwood man is being held without bond in the Hall County Jail following his arrest Thursday in connection with an altercation with a 76-year-old woman and a 28-year-old “special needs/disabled adult” woman, according Oakwood Police Det. Sgt. Stewart Webb.

OAKWOOD POLICE NARRATIVE:

“…Officers responded to 3661 Crest Hill Dr Apt 3661…in reference to a physical domestic in progress. Upon arrival, Officers knocked on the front door and overheard a male’s voice state “Nope!”. A female’s voice told officers to go to the back door. 

Officers at the front door then overheard a female screaming inside the residence and observed two figures involved in a physical altercation. Officer’s forced entry to the front door and made contact with two female victims inside the residence. They told officers that Robert Troop ran into the kitchen. 

Officers confronted Robert Troop and found that he was non-compliant and appeared to be acting aggressive towards officers. Robert Troop was tazed by an officer and safely taken into custody. 

The two victims told officers that Robert Troop Jr had physically assaulted them and took their phones away to stop them from calling 911.”

Troop, 32, is charged with:

  • SIMPLE BATTERY
  • BATTERY FAMILY VIOLENCE ACT
  • 911 OBSTRUCTION
  • OBSTRUCTION-RESISTING OFFICER/ARREST
  • TERRORISTIC THREATS AND ACTS
  • EXPLOIT/INFLICT PAIN/DEPRIVE DISABLED/ELDER/RESIDENT PERSON    

Sgt. Webb says an Adult Protective Services Referral has been completed and that agency is also investigating.
