Ga. 365: Two charged Labor Day with racing

HABERSHAM COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE NEWS RELEASE:

“On Monday…Habersham County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Units conducted a high visibility traffic enforcement campaign along Ga. Hwy. 365 and other major thoroughfares throughout the county to facilitate safe travel during the Labor Day weekend.

During this traffic operation two vehicles, a Hyundai sedan and Kia SUV, were checked at speeds of 95 and 99 mph, respectively. Both vehicles traveled nearly side by side as they traveled southbound just north of Duncan Bridge Road.

A Habersham Sheriff’s Office Special Operations HEAT Unit conducted a traffic stop on both vehicles. The driver of the Kia was charged with operating a vehicle while license suspended. The driver of the Hyundai was charged with DUI. Both were charged with operating a vehicle without valid insurance, speeding, reckless driving, and racing…”
