GSP NARRATIVE:
“On August 27, 2024, at 7:46pm, Troopers from Post 6 Gainesville were dispatched to a crash on I-985 South at MM 16 to investigate.
Upon arrival their investigation determined that a Honda Accord and Toyota Tacoma were traveling south on I-985 near MM 16.
As both vehicles began to merge onto the interstate, the driver of the Honda misjudged his clearance and began to pass the Toyota on the right shoulder. While on the shoulder, the driver of the Honda lost control and over corrected and began to rotate clockwise and struck the Toyota with its left rear bumper. After impact, the Honda reengaged and struck the Toyota with its front. Upon impact, the Toyota rotated counterclockwise and traveled off the roadway.
While off the roadway, Toyota overturned coming to an uncontrolled final rest on the cable barrier. The Honda came to final rest on the left shoulder of the roadway.”
