Reward offered in Jackson Co. arson

State fire investigators are asking for the public’s help identifying suspects in an arson case in Jackson Countys. A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered.

On June 12, a vacant residence was burned near U.S. Highway 129 North in Jackson County.

“At the time of the fire, the residence had been abandoned for several years and was not connected to any utilities,” says State Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John King. “The structure was inaccessible to responding fire officials and was burned to completion as a result.”

The State Fire Marshal’s Office is working with Jefferson police and local fire departments on the investigation.

Anyone with information on the case should call the Georgia Arson Control Hotline at 1-800-252-5804. Rewards are available for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
