UPDATE. WEDNESDAY 10:15 A.M.:
Hall County Animal Control responded to a welfare check call on Thursday, July 18, at 3:40 p.m. at a house in the 6000 block of Eagle Court in Gainesville.
“The caller stated the resident of the home had moved out and left several dogs at the home in deplorable conditions,” Hall County spokeswoman Joy Licciardi said Wednesday.
After the owner could not be reached, a search warrant was obtained and upon entering, Licciardi added, the officers found 15 dogs in 13 unsanitary cages spread throughout the home.
“The dogs were impounded and taken to the Hall County Animal Shelter.”
The case remains under investigation.
As we reported Sunday, a 63-year-old woman is charged with 15 counts of cruelty to animals as a result of the investigation. Jane Kelley Jones remained in the Hall County Jail as of mid-morning Wednesday in lieu of $9,750 bond.
