Another week, another slide in gas prices as the national average for a gallon of gasoline dipped two cents since last Monday to $3.46 for a gallon of regular unleaded, while in Gainesville it is down a penny to $3.28. Meanwhile, the state average is also down one cent to $3.28.
The main reasons for the decline, according to AAA, are lackluster gasoline demand and burgeoning supply.
“Gasoline demand has trailed 2023 for most of this year, and analysts believe economic uncertainty may suppress demand this summer,” spokesman Andrew Gross said.
