A former Forsyth County sheriff’s deputy was sentenced Thursday to life in prison for kidnapping and killing a Norcross teenager two years ago.
Miles Bryant was accused of killing Susan Morales’ and then leaving her body in woods near Dacula.
Bryant, a Doraville police officer at the time of his arrest, was sentenced to life without parole. He was accused of kidnapping the girl as she walked home. Bryant knew the victim and his service pistol was found near her body.

A former Forsyth County deputy sheriff was denied bond Monday in a highly publicized Gwinnett County murder case.
Miles Bryant, who was a Doraville police officer when he was arrested, is awaiting trial for the murder of 16-year-old Susana Morales.
Moralas was first reported missing in July of 2022. Her body was found in a wooded area several months later about 20 miles from her home.
Bryant knew the victim and his service pistol was found near her body.
The former officer is also facing a burglary charge dating back to 2019.
