Maria update: Prayer vigil, bumper stickers available

A one-hour prayer vigil Wednesday night at a Gainesville church is among the latest developments as the community continues to grapple with the mysterious disappearance May 29 of 12-year-old Maria Gomez-Perez. In addition, one of the coordinators of efforts on behalf of her friends and family says bumper stickers are now available.

The prayer vigil was held at Atlanta Road Church of Christ and included prayers for Maria’s family, law enforcement, volunteers, and Maria. Also, there were scripture readings – Philippians 4 6-7 and Hebrews 4 13-16 – as well as recitations of the 23rd Psalm, closing with The Lord’s Prayer.

Meanwhile, Norma Hernandez, who has been helping coordinate civilian searches, says she received 2,000 bumper stickers Wednesday. They are available at her office at 912 Atlanta Highway.
