GEORGIA STATE PATROL NARRATIVE:

“…Troopers responded to the area of I-985 NB and mile marker 19 (near Elachee Bridge)for a collision involving a single vehicle versus a pedestrian.

Upon arrival, Troopers observed Hall County Fire/EMS providing treatment to the pedestrian, identified as Jhon M. Padilla Pereira, 22, of Tampa, Florida.

During the investigation, it was determined Mr. Padilla had crossed the I-985 northbound lanes with his work crew and entered the grass median to perform work.

A 2013 Hyundai Elantra, driven by Kelley R. Shorts, 52 of Buford, had to slow abruptly due to traffic and traveled off the roadway to the left, into the grass median.

The Elantra struck a guardrail before striking Mr. Padilla with its left headlight area. Mr. Padilla was transported to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries.”
