*Fourteen alleged gun runners, including several illegal immigrants, have been arrested by federal authorities in Georgia recently and more than 200 weapons, some military style, seized. ATF Atlanta Field Division Special Agent in Charge Benjamin Gibbons announced the arrests at a news conference in Atlanta Friday. Names of those arrested were not announced because the investigation is ongoing, Gibbons said.

*A student was taken into custody for bringing a handgun to River Ridge High School in Cherokee County on Friday morning. The district confirmed no injuries and that operations were not disrupted.
*The University of Georgia is preparing for a new medical school, with plans to enroll its first class in July 2026, pending accreditation. Dr. Erica Brownfield, the senior associate dean for academic affairs, tells WSAV-TV there is a need for more physicians in the state.
