Youngster suffers ‘significant’ injuries in morning rush hour crash on 365

STATE PATROL NARRATIVE:

“(Friday morning about 7:00), a Trooper from the Gainesville Post of the Georgia State Patrol responded to the intersection of SR 365 (Cornelia Highway) and SR 52 (Lula Road) in Hall County to investigate a traffic crash.

Upon arrival the investigating Trooper determined a 2008 Kia Sorento driven by Christina Hamilton, 47, of Gainesville was traveling north on SR 365 attempting to turn left onto SR 52. Ms. Hamilton had two passengers a 3-year-old and a 6-year-old in the back seat. Ms. Hamilton failed to yield while turning left.

A 2024 Ford F-250 driven by Nicolas Ramirez Lara, 31, of Gainesville traveling south on SR 365 struck the right side of the Kia Sorento with the front bumper of his vehicle. Mr. Ramirez Lara had one passenger a 5-year-old sitting in the front middle seat. The Kia Sorento was pushed into a third and fourth vehicle both facing east on SR 52. A 2004 Chevrolet Aveo, driven by Michael Lack, 36, of Cleveland. And a 2006 Chrysler 300, driven by a Jefferson Police Officer.

Ms. Hamilton along with her two minor passengers, and Mr. Ramirez Lara along with his minor passenger were all transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for the treatment of their non-life-threatening injuries. The 3-year-old minor in Ms. Hamilton’s vehicle is being transferred from Northeast Georgia Medical Center to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta for the treatment of a significant, However, non-life-threatening facial laceration.

Ms. Hamilton was issued citations for Failure to yield while turning left, and a Safety restraint violation for one of her minor passengers.

Mr. Ramirez Lara was issued one citation for a Safety restraint violation for his minor passenger.

Traffic on SR 365 (Cornelia Highway) southbound was being directed around the crash by Hall County Deputies for approximately 1 hour as the crash was being investigated.”
