The young man who drowned recently in Lake Lanier will be recognized for his community service June 28 by the Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
Diaz Sorria will receive the group’s HYPE Award at its annual Gala and Awards Banquet.
Sorria, 27, drowned Father’s Day Weekend.
Sorria had jumped from a boat on the Forsyth County side of the lake. Authorities say he was wearing a life jacket but it wasn’t secured.
