For the second in recent days, a hit-and-run driver has been arrested after the victim followed his car, according to the state patrol. This time it happened Monday night on I-985.
STATE PATROL ACCIDENT REPORT:
“Vehicles #1 and #2 were traveling north on I-985 northbound mile marker 14 exit ramp, south of HF Reed Industrial Parkway. Vehicle #2 was traveling in the right lane, straight.
Vehicle #1 was traveling in the left lane and failed to maintain its lane.
Vehicle #1 struck the driver’s side of vehicle #2 with its passenger’s side. After impact, vehicle #1 left the
scene and turned left onto HF Reed Industrial Parkway. Area of impact was determined by driver’s statement and vehicle damage.
Driver #2 followed vehicle #1, to get the tag number. Driver #2 reported the accident to Hall County dispatch and was able to identify the driver of vehicle #1. Driver #1 drove to his residence after the accident.”
Robert Thomas Brandt, 56, Gainesville, was charged with:
*DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE
*OPEN CONTAINER VIOLATION WHILE OPERATING MOTOR VEHICLE
*DUTY TO STOP AT ACCIDENT (HIT AND RUN, LEAVING SCENE OF ACC.
*FAILURE TO MAINTAIN LANE
