Wrong place at the wrong time?

Two men who were apparently in the wrong place at the wrong time ended up being arrested on a number of charges recently when sheriff’s deputies showed up to investigate a reported disturbance at a house in the area.

The sheriff’s office released details of their arrest Wednesday.

HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE NARRATIVE:

“Two male suspects were arrested in the early morning hours of Friday, June 28, 2024, on El Dorado Drive in Gainesville after Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputies were called to investigate an altercation at a residence in the area.

Deputies located a vehicle on El Dorado Driver that matched a description of one of the vehicles that had been seen at the residence.

When they stopped the vehicle, deputies encountered Macere Walker, 20, of Gainesville, the driver, and Kendrick Dashon Peterson, 32, of Oakwood, a passenger in the vehicle. Deputies smelled an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and conducted a probable cause search. The search yielded a quantity of cocaine (approximate street value $1,250) and a handgun, which deputies determined had been stolen.

As a result, Mr. Walker was arrested and charged with felony possession of cocaine. He posted a bond of $1,300 and was released from custody on Saturday, June 29. Mr. Peterson was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine, theft by receiving and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, all felony offenses; he also had warrants for failure to appear and probation violation.

He remains in jail with no bond.

The preliminary investigation was unable to place either suspect at the scene of the altercation (the officers were sent to investigate.)”
