Construction is scheduled to begin Monday on the new pavilion and restrooms at Gainesville’s Longwood Park.
The city’s parks and recreation department announced in a Facebook posting that the pavilion area and main parking lot will be closed for about seven months while the work is going on. The parking lot next to the tennis courts will remain open.
Plans for the work had been announced earlier this year and the city has received a grant from the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) to help pay for the work.
