A 22-year-old woman says she is $400 poorer after an encounter with a stranger at the Wells Fargo ATM on Browns Bridge Road.
The woman told Gainesville Police the ATM was not working and a man approached her and asked to use the Wells Fargo app on her phone to make a deposit.
“(But) he (then) stated he deposited it into her account (by mistake) and asked for the $400 cash,” police spokesman Kevin Holbrook said in an email. “She gave him (the) cash and found out (later he never deposited (any) money in her account.”
