Woman, pets die in fire; Survivors, SROs, the gun; A special day for GFD

*A woman and several pets died in an early morning mobile home fire in Forsyth County Wednesday. It happened on Settingdown Road about 5:00. The woman’s name was not immediately released. Her body was sent to the state crime lab for an autopsy which investigators hope will determine her cause of death.

*Wednesday was a special day for the Gainesville Fire Department (GFD). “150 years ago this date Gainesville Fire Department was voted into professional career existence by the City of Gainesville, Georgia,” a Facebook post says. “Our Mission has never changed and our commitment to the community has never wavered. 150 years strong!!”
