A woman suffered minor injuries in a head-on collision early Wednesday on Dawsonville Highway after a Flowery Branch man crossed the center line in attempt to pass a vehicle in front of him.
According to Forsyth County News, officers from the Hall County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene around 5:30am on Wednesday, June 18th, near the Forsyth county line on GA 53 Dawsonville Highway. Officials reported that 27-year-old Dakota James Coggins was driving a Chevrolet Traliblazer southbound when he attempted to pass a vehicle in front of him while in a no-passing zone, striking a vehicle driven by 44-year-old Emily Williams who was traveling north.
Coggins was ejected from the vehicle as it turned over and caught fire. Both Coggins and Williams were taken to NGMC were Williams was given treatment for minor injuries. Coggins is still in the hospital as of Thursday.
Coggins faces several traffic-related charges including:
- Passing in a no-passing zone
- Driving on the wrong side of the road
- Violation of seat belt requirements
- Driving with Suspended Registration
