WHHS head football coach steps down

West Hall High School head football coach Krofton Montgomery has decided to resign. Montgomery has led the Spartans football program for seven seasons, following five years as an assistant coach at the school.

“It has been an honor to coach at West Hall and work with such an incredible group of student-athletes, coaches, and the supportive Spartan community,” Montgomery said. “While this decision was not easy, I believe it is the right time for me to step away and focus on my family. I am incredibly proud of my time at West Hall.”

“Coach Montgomery has been an invaluable part of our school and athletic program. He is truly an advocate for his players and will go to great lengths to help them accomplish their goals,” West Hall Athletic Director Trevor Catrett said. “His players and colleagues have tremendous respect for Coach Montgomery. It is tough for me personally because we have developed a strong friendship over the past 12 years. However, I know that this decision is what’s best for him and his family. I wish him nothing but the best as he transitions out of this role. His dedication to our student-athletes both on and off the field has made a lasting impact.”

The school will begin the search for a new head coach immediately.
