West Nile Fever cases reported in Hall, five other Ga. counties

Six cases of West Nile Fever have been confirmed in Georgia, including one in Hall County, according to data released Tuesday by the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). That compares to two statewide a week ago.  

The mosquito-borne disease has also been reported in Fulton, DeKalb, Richmond, Cherokee, and Chatham counties – one case in each.

Nationwide, 33 states have confirmed human cases of West Nile, totaling 289 infections, including 195 instances of neuroinvasive disease, which affects the central nervous system. Texas currently leads with the highest number of reported cases, 41.

The CDC says cases tend to peak July to October.
