“Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputies arrested two suspects on drug charges following a welfare check outside of Lula Laundromat in the early morning hours of Friday…
Deputies responded just before 3 a.m. to the location on Main Street in downtown Lula after a 911 caller reported a woman slumped over in the passenger seat of an SUV. The caller also reported the woman and a man had their belongings scattered across the parking lot of the business.
When the first deputy arrived, he encountered Robert Lee Peppers, 64, of Clayton, inside the SUV. When Mr. Peppers exited the vehicle, the deputy detected signs of impairment. A second deputy arrived at the location to assist with the investigation. At that point, the woman, identified as Leslie Ann Randall, 46, of Cleveland, was assisted from the vehicle. She, too, showed signs of impairment.
During the course of the on-scene investigation, deputies located various illegal drugs both inside the vehicle an on the persons of Mr. Peppers and Ms. Randall.
Mr. Peppers was charged with possession of a dangerous drug (gabapentin) – two counts, possession of less than one ounce of marijuana and possession of drug-related objects (a scale). All charges are misdemeanors. He remains in jail on a bond of $5,200.
Ms. Randall was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine (9 grams), possession of a dangerous drug (gabapentin), tampering with evidence (tossed a gabapentin pill on the ground) and possession of drug-related objects (a scale). She remains in jail on a bond of $6,300.”
