Weekend police activity in Gainesville, Habersham

*Gainesville Police said Monday there was nothing new to report on the weekend shooting an at apartment complex that left a 16-year-old in critical condition. And investigators have been asking for anyone who can provide information on what happened to contact them.

*There was a “serious injury” crash on Butler Parkway near College Avenue Sunday. The state patrol investigated the accident and, at last check, had not responded to a request for information on it.

*Two people were jailed over the weekend in connection with incidents involving the same 14-year-old. The stepfather is charged with Child Molestation because he’s alleged to have “touched the child inappropriately for sexual pleasure.” The youngster’s mother was charged with Cruelty to Children in the First Degree for allegedly using “unethical physical measures on the child.”

*Three people suffered serious injuries in an ATV accident late Friday afternoon in Habersham County – a juvenile and two others. It was a rollover accident on a dirt road just off Mud Creek Road, according to county authorities.

*Another accident in Habersham, this one involving only what was described as a “utility vehicle,” occurred Saturday afternoon also resulted in serious injuries. “At the time of the call, (a) man was unconscious after the vehicle fell about nine feet, coming to rest on concrete steps and artificial turf,” county spokesman Rob Moore said. It happened on Rock Ridge Trail.

*One person was ejected in an early-morning wreck Saturday on Ga. 365 northbound near Alto-Mud Creek Road. In all, three people were injured in the crash which damaged about 50 feet of guardrail.

*And one person was injured when she was struck by a car on Georgia Street near the Student Commons in Demorest just after 6:45 Sunday night.
