Theft suspect jailed; Display supporting Israel vandalized

*A Gainesville man, Larry Franklin White, 57, was arrested over the weekend on charges of breaking into a neighbor’s car on Hidden Hollow Drive. “Mr. White was arrested at his residence…Saturday morning, May 18, after he broke the driver’s side window to a neighbor’s vehicle and searched the vehicle in an apparent attempt to commit a theft,” a spokeswoman for the Hall County Sheriff’s Office wrote in an email. “There was no indication any items were stolen from the vehicle.” White remained in the Hall County Jail Monday morning on a $5,700 bond.

*A display erected in Gainesville in support of Israel following last fall’s Hamas attack was vandalized over the weekend. Gainesville Police confirmed Monday that they were asked to investigate on Saturday, but the report was not complete as of mid-morning Monday, spokesman Kevin Holbrook said. This is reportedly not the first time that it has been the victim of vandals The police report says it happened between midnight and 10:00 a.m. Saturday.
