Warmest April on record

Last month was Earth’s warmest April on record and the eleventh straight month of record-breaking global month, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

Locally, the average temperature in Gainesville for the month was 62 which is 2.1 degrees above normal. The highest recorded temperature was 87 on the 18th. The lowest was 37 on the 6th. April showers were scarce. Rainfall recorded at Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport was 1.78 inches or 2.20 inches below normal.
