UPDATE: Ga. election board passes rule that may delay vote certification

(FROM SRN NEWS/REUTERS) – Georgia’s Republican-controlled state election board approved a new rule on Monday that voting rights advocates say could permit local election officials to delay certification of November’s presidential election results, potentially throwing the outcome of the battleground state’s vote into uncertainty.

(FROM GA. NEWS NETWORK) – The state board of elections is meeting today to decide several voting changes.

An approval would add three poll workers at voting precincts to hand count ballots on election night.

Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said last week that it would lead to a delay in reporting and burden election workers. He added that changing election procedures outside of the legislative process undermines voter confidence.
