*Georgia Sen. Jon Ossoff is continuing to pressure the Postmaster General for on-time deliveries. First-class delivery has been on-time around the metro Atlanta area at a rate of 75%recently, which is above the 36% rate this spring. Sen. Ossoff said Thursday that’s still below what Postmaster General Louis DeJoy marked as a goal in 2021.
*More than $100 million is being sent to Georgians who were charged illegal fees from credit repair companies. Lexington Law, creditrepair.com and several other firms were accused of charging illegal advanced fees and using bait-and-switch tactics for credit repair. Checks will be sent out now and January 6. The total settlement nationwide reached nearly two billion dollars.
*There’s a new Buc-ee’s coming to middle Georgia. The Monroe County Board of Commissioners has approved plans for the new store. But some community members are upset saying the store will increase traffic and cause many to skip shopping downtown in favor of Buc-ee’s. But Forsyth city officials say Buc-ee’s will be paying for about $10 million in road improvements. The location is also set to bring about 200 full-time jobs to the area. There’s no word on when construction will start, but the store is set to open in 2026.
