7:00 A.M. SATURDAY UPDATE:
The GBI says the police activity in on Bald Ridge Road in Cumming Friday was related to the discovery of a woman’s body in a wooded area off the road. The agency and the county coroner are working to identify the remains.
The Cumming Police Department requested the GBI’s help after some of its officers found the body which was in an area near Pirkle Ferry Road. The coroner says the body appears to have been there for a few weeks.
Authorities hope an autopsy will determine the woman’s identification and cause of death but investigators at this point don’t think foul play is involved though they didn’t say why.
2:30 P.M. FRIDAY UPDATE:
Cumming Police are currently involved in a death investigation on Bald Ridge Road in partnership with the GBI.

Details are sketchy so far, but Cumming Police say they are working in partnership with other law enforcement agencies “at this time on an ongoing investigation” on Bald Ridge Road.
“There are no details at this time, but there is no danger to the public” a Facebook posting says. “We will share any updates as they become available.”
