UPDATE: Weekend Barrett Rd. incident involved a stabbing & manhunt

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) continues to investigate a weekend stabbing incident that left a Gainesville man with serious injuries at a residence in the 3100 block of Barrett Road. The suspect escaped capture despite a manhunt early Saturday that included a K9 team.

HCSO NARRATIVE:

“Deputies responded to the house at approximately 5 a.m. (and) began rendering aid to the victim, Pedro Cucuy-Quib, 39, who had suffered stab or cutting wounds to his face and under an arm. Hall County Fire Rescue personnel transported Cucuy-Quib to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the initial investigation, a male roommate of Cucuy-Quib’s assaulted him with a knife and left the residence on foot. Deputies secured the scene, and an HCSO K9 team conducted a search for the suspect, but did not locate him.

Investigators have preliminary identification information on the suspect but are working to confirm it. The incident was isolated to the victim and suspect. Investigators believe the suspect had been consuming alcohol.”
