UPDATED STORY. 5:30 P.M. MONDAY:
The state patrol says two people were arrested Sunday afternoon in Oakwood after the stolen car they were in wrecked on Mundy Mill Road while it was being chase by a state trooper.
STATE PATROL NARRATIVE:
“At approximately 12:52 pm, Troopers were notified of a stolen Nissan Rogue in Hall County.
Troopers observed the vehicle traveling north on I-985 and initiated a traffic stop. The Nissan pulled over (but) the driver refused to get out of the vehicle. As the Troopers approached, the driver sped away, initiating a pursuit.
The vehicle exited I-985 at Exit 16 (Mundy Mill Rd) and struck the median, traveling into the westbound lanes, striking the curb and a sign. The driver and passenger got out of the vehicle and fled on foot, but both were apprehended.
The names of the driver and passenger are not currently available.”
Several local law enforcement agencies in the county assisted troopers with traffic control in the area where the vehicle was abandoned and in the search for the pair, included a Hall County Sheriff’s Office K9 Team, according to a spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office.

A spokeswoman for Oakwood Police, when asked about the large presence of law enforcement officers about mid-afternoon, said it was “GSP assist at exit 16.”
A vehicle that was believed stolen was involved, she said, and that the suspects were captured following a foot pursuit that began when they abandoned the vehicle after it wrecked.
