UPDATE: No serious injuries in weekend multi-vehicle accident on I-985

No serious injuries occurred Saturday afternoon on I-985 in a wreck involving several vehicles that shut down part of the road for about half-an-hour. The state patrol released a report on the three-vehicle crash Monday afternoon.

STATE PATROL NARRATIVE:

“…the trooper investigating trooper determined that a 2020 Kia Optima, driven by Tyler Wilson, 34, of Dawsonville, was traveling south on I-985 in the left lane. While Wilson was attempting to change lanes, the Kia struck the rear passenger door of a 2025 BMW, driven by William Cochran, 23 of Buford.

The Kia traveled into the grass median and struck the cable barrier, where it came to an uncontrolled rest. The BMW rotated in a counterclockwise motion, striking the right-rear bumper of a 2026 Chevy Silverado, driven by Orly Vincent, 46, of Suwanee. Mr. Vincent also had two minors in the Silverado as well.

After being impacted by the BMW, the Silverado began to rotate in a clockwise motion, traveling off of the roadway onto the east shoulder, where it struck a guardrail with its front bumper. The BMW came to a controlled rest on the east shoulder of I-985.

The left lane (the highway) was closed for approximately 30 minutes (and) Wilson was cited for failure to maintain lane.”
