UPDATE: New information in death of Cumming city employee

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) said Monday afternoon the worker was a 44-year-old woman and that she was killed at the city’s water plant on Dahlonega Highway. As reported earlier in the day, she died in the parking lot when she was hit by a vehicle. Spokeswoman Stacie Miller, however, did not release her name and said she had no other information to release at the time as the FCSO Traffic Specialist Unit continues its investigation.

An employee for the city of Cumming was killed early Monday when he was struck by a truck in the parking lot at one of the city’s facilities. City Administrator Phil Higgins said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The City of Cumming is completely devastated following this tragic accident that resulted in the loss of
life of a treasured City employee,” Higgins said in a statement. “The City of Cumming is very much a family, and we are all in shock and utterly heartbroken following this morning’s tragedy.

We ask for the community to join us in prayer for the family and friends of our
lost employee, as well as for our entire City of Cumming family.”

Higgins did not release the victim’s name, nor did he provide any details about the accident.
