A Lawrenceville man recovered by emergency personnel from Lake Lanier near Van Pugh
Park Monday night has died.
Marine Rescue crews from Hall County Fire Rescue (HCFR) were called to the park just after 6:30. The victim, identified as Brayan Tarasona, 22, was located quickly and was pulled from the water by HCFR’s remote operate vehicle (ROV), according to HCFR. Tarasona was transported to the hospital in critical condition. He was pronounced dead just before 8:30 Monday night, a Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) spokeswoman said Tuesday.
An investigation determined that Tarasona and two other people had gone to the park to swim. Witnesses said the victim swam out into deep water, and as he was attempting to return to shore, he went under and did not resurface.
