The reward for information leading to the arrest of a woman wanted in a Florida homicide but who has possible ties to Habersham County has increased to $16,000 as authorities expand their search across several states.
The Walton County, Fla., Sheriff’s Office first notified northeast Georgia authorities about the case a week ago. Fla. murder suspect may have ties to Habersham Co.
The U.S. Marshals Task Force added $5,000 to the existing $11,000 offered by Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers and the Florida Sheriffs Association Criminal Apprehension Assistance Program for information on Isabelle Rose Johnson, 38. Johnson is wanted in the death of 43-year-old Jason Coulthart of Niceville.
Coulthart was reported missing earlier this year. His remains were discovered June 25 in a shallow grave on property off Sunset Lane in Freeport, according to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators have searched several locations in Georgia and Alabama connected to Johnson, who remains at large. Five people have been arrested and charged with accessory after the fact to a capital felony for allegedly helping Johnson evade law enforcement.
Deputies describe Johnson as a white woman standing 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighing about 120 pounds. She has brown hair and hazel eyes, though investigators believe she recently cut and dyed her hair to disguise her appearance. She is known to use several aliases, including Harley, Jessica Elaine Bowman, Jessica Elaine Thrush, Jessica Elaine Thrash, Jessica Dowdy and Denise and several disguises.
Authorities say Johnson frequently travels, relies on fabricated stories of domestic violence or personal hardship to gain sympathy, and uses those interactions to obtain rides, shelter and money. She has distinctive tattoos, including a floral design on her left hand near her thumb and forefinger and another on her right ankle.
Officials have not released a possible motive in Coulthart’s killing. They also have not disclosed where Johnson may be hiding, though she has ties in Okaloosa and Walton counties, as well as areas in Georgia and lower Alabama.
