UPDATE: Hall Co. fugitive caught

Gainesville Police recently arrested a 29-year-old man wanted by Hall County authorities on a number of charges but not until he tried to get away from them. Shawn Lewis Brown was arrested Thursday about noon but, police say, he didn’t give up easily.

“Police attempted to stop the Brown subject,” police spokesman Kevin Holbrook said, “(and) upon stopping he pulled off and fled” before his stopped his car.

In addition to the Hall County charges, Bown faces these charges in connection with his attempt to evade capture:

* FAIL TO MAINTAIN LANE

* OPER VEHICLE WITH EXPIRED TAG

* RECKLESS DRIVING 1ST OFFENSE

* STOP YIELD SIGN VIOLATION (6 counts)

* FLEEING OR ATTEMPTING TO ELUDE

* OBEDIENCE TO REQUIRED TRAFFIC-CONTROL DEVICES  

He’s also charged with probation violation.

EARLIER STORY. POSTED SATURDAY: Bond has been set at $8,170 for a 29-year-old man accused of a number of things including fleeing and attempting to elude a Gainesville police officer. He was arrested about noon on Thursday, according to a report filed Friday. In addition to fleeing and attempting to elude, he’s being held for:

* ARREST ORDER SUPERIOR COUR

* PROBATION VIOLATION

* FAILURE TO MAINTAIN LANE

* OPERATING VEHICLE WITH EXPIRED TAG

* RECKLESS DRIVING

* STOP AT YIELD SIGN VIOLATION (6 COUNTS)

* NOT OBEYING TRAFFIC-CONTROL DEVICES
