UPDATE: Feds involved in search for alleged Mtn. View murderer

The FBI is helping with the search for the Oakwood man wanted for gunning down his former girlfriend at a store on Mountain View Road last week, and has been from Day 1, a sheriff’s office spokeswoman said Wednesday.

“The FBI is assisting with the search and has been part of the investigation from the onset,” B.J Williams said, adding, “Our team is following up on every piece of information that comes in.”

But Williams would not comment on whether the FBI’s involvement also means local authorities think Antwane Sintell Thurmond has left the state and is now considered an “interstate flight to avoid prosecution” fugitive. “We’re not going to confirm or deny reports about where he may or may not be. Doing so could compromise the investigation and create unnecessary safety risks while we’re trying to locate him.”
