The Hall County School District (HDSD) and East Hall Middle School (EHMS) principal added new information late Wednesday night to a story that broke several hours earlier regarding a student threat at the school. EHMS student charged with making school threat
The message that the principal sent to parents and guardians was released by the school district.
“Earlier today, at approximately 2:40 PM, EHMS administration became aware of threatening comments made by a student toward our school and individuals,” the message begins. “Ensuring the physical and emotional safety of our students and staff is the foundation of everything we do.
“As soon as we received this information, we immediately involved law enforcement to conduct a full safety assessment. Appropriate disciplinary measures are also being enforced following the Hall County School District Student Code of Conduct. Law enforcement officers and school officials have concluded that there is no evidence indicating a valid threat to the safety of our school.”
Principal Christy Hastings went on to say “We firmly believe that clear communication and proactive security are key to keeping our school community safe. We encourage parents to use this occasion to remind students about the importance of responsible communication and the serious consequences that arise from making threatening statements, regardless of intent.
