Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) school resource officers charged a 13-year-old student from East Hall Middle School (EHMS) Tuesday after he made comments about carrying out a shooting at the school.
“According to the investigation, the student made his comments around 11:30 in the school lunchroom,” sheriff’s office spokeswoman B.J. Williams wrote in an email Wednesday night. “The school principal received a tip about the comments, and she and another EHMS administrator quickly located the student.”
They searched the student and his book bag but found no weapons. “During questioning, the student admitted making a statement about shooting others at the school but said he was joking,” Williams added.
The student was charged as a juvenile with making terroristic threats and acts. He was released to the custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ).
