A Florida man is free on bond following his arrest early Friday morning by Hall County sheriff’s deputies who say they discovered four young unrestrained children and marijuana in his vehicle and later charged him with DUI. The sheriff’s office released details of the incident Tuesday morning.
HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE (HCSO) NARRATIVE:
“At approximately 3:15 a.m., a Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputy on patrol on Lanier Parkway (I-985) northbound near Exit 8/Friendship Road spotted a motorist in a passenger van traveling at an estimated 85 mph in a 70 mph speed zone. The motorist stopped when the deputy activated his emergency equipment.
During the course of the traffic stop, the deputy detected an odor of marijuana coming from the driver, identified as Craig Charles Snipes, 37, of Holly Hill, Florida. The deputy also observed several occupants of the vehicle, including four juveniles under the age of 14, were not wearing seat belts. The deputy found Snipes in possession of two (2) THC vape cartridges and a small quantity of marijuana (less than an ounce).
Snipes was arrested on the following charges:
- Possession of a Schedule I controlled substance – THC
- Possession of marijuana (less than one ounce)
- Speeding
- DUI-marijuana
- DUI-endangering the life of a child (four counts)
- Safety belt violations – child restraints (three counts)
- Safety belt restraints (three counts)
Snipes posted a bond of $11,100 and was released from the Hall County Jail on Saturday…”
