Stock offering for Commerce's Bear Village Resort announced

The developers of a planned $650 million hotel/condominium/entertainment complex in Commerce announced this week that it has filed for a public offering of stock for $10 million to be used in developing the project. Webstar Technology Group made the filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Plans for Bear Village Resort (rendering pictured) were announced several months ago.

“The project is estimated to net revenues of over $75 Million per year and bring significant tax revenues and jobs to Banks County, Georgia,” according to a news release from the company. “This significant milestone marks the commencement of the development and initial land to be purchased for the highly anticipated Bear Village Resort.”

Ken was born in Moultrie, Georgia, and says he knew from the time he was 5 or 6 he wanted to be a “radio announcer.” That dream was realized when he was hired by Moultrie radio station WMTM in 1960 at the age of 15 as a weekend disc jockey. He lives in Gainesville with his wife of 52 years, the former Sandra McKnight of Clio, Alabama, and they have one child, a daughter, Lisa, who lives in Cumming with her family.
