UPDATE 1:30 P.M. TUESDAY:
The state patrol said Tuesday the pickup that struck a Bogart man’s car head-on early Monday was driven by a Gainesville man, Wilber Mejia-Bonilla, 23. And troopers say that after the crash, which occurred when Mejia-Bonilla’s truck crossed the centerline, he and a passenger, Mauro Morado, 33, who is from Mexico fled on foot but were quickly caught. The accident happened about 3:00. At early afternoon Tuesday, the state patrol had not responded to an inquiry asking if any charges had been filed.
UPDATE. 11:55 P.M. MONDAY:
The state patrol has identified the victim of that fatal traffic accident early Monday morning in Jackson County as Matthew Roark, 57, of Bogart. Roark died when his car was struck head-on by a pickup driven by Wilber Mejia-Bonilla, 23, Gainesville, according to troopers.
