Up & down, gas prices reverse course

Up across the board a week ago, gas prices are down this week, according to AAA.

The average for a gallon of regular in Gainesville is $2.97, ten cents less than last Monday. The state average is $2.98, which is six cents cheaper than a week ago. And, the national average is four cents to $3.18.

This is the time of year when prices traditionally are going up. “Supply and demand are the main reason for the dip,” AAA says.

“After OPEC+ announced it’s increasing oil production next month by more than 400,000 barrels a day – much more than expected – the price of crude oil has been falling. Oversupply coupled with tepid gasoline demand is resulting in lower pump prices.
