University scientists studying recent earthquakes

University scientists are studying the Hall-Gwinnett area near Buford following a series of earthquakes earlier this month.

Researchers have buried data-collecting equipment on the border of Lake Lanier, the epicenter for two of the four tremors that occurred, in hopes of learning what caused the earthquakes. The other two were centered in the lake itself.

The quakes have gotten the attention of scientists at UGA, Georgia Tech, and Georgia State.
