The Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) Accident Investigation Unit (AIU) continues an investigation into a five-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon on Lanier Parkway (I-985) that left two people with serious injuries.

HCSO NARRATIVE:

“The initial investigation determined the crash occurred around 2:00…in the northbound lanes of the interstate in the area of the Atlanta Highway overpass (Mile Marker 17). At the time, traffic was congested, and a driver failed to brake for slowing traffic, striking the back of two vehicles, which in turn, struck two vehicles in front of them.

The occupants of one of the vehicles involved in the crash, an adult male and an adult female, suffered serious injuries and were transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. At last report, both remained hospitalized.

The northbound lanes…remained closed for more than an hour and a half as a result of the collision.”
