*Two more Georgia law enforcement officers are accused of improperly using their departments License Plate Reader systems: A LaGrange police officer and a Cherokee County sheriff’s deputy.
*A freak accident kills an elderly Coweta County man. Witnesses say he was out for a walk on in Sharpsburg when a tree fell on him recently. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Channel Two reports the tree also struck a car passing by but no one in it was injured.
*The Fort Valley City Council is imposing restrictions on the mayor. The board voted unanimously this week to strip Shakeena Reeves of her work-issued laptop and keys to non-public city buildings. Allegations made against Reeves include financial misconduct. She’s already restricted from using city credit cards.
*Students across engineering, computer science, and IT at Georgia Southern are getting direct access to advanced artificial intelligence right in their campus labs: a humanoid robot that will even be walking around campus and heading to classes. WSAV reports this multi-department effort gives students hands-on experience with autonomous navigation and machine learning. Dr. Rami Haddad, chair of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, says the technology opens up new possibilities for student-led research and real-world human-robot interaction.
