*The Cedartown police officer who admits killing a pet miniature donkey a few weeks ago is facing a million-dollar lawsuit. The recently filed suit claims the donkey named HeeHaw was killed while officers were conducting an unauthorized search of Elsberry Riding and Farm in Polk County. The officer says he shot the animal when it “charged” him. The owners say HeeHaw was a favorite of children and was involved in a number of petting zoos.
*A handful of solar projects for Georgia Power are good to go. The Public Service Commission recently approved seven proposals in seven counties with a combined 1,100 megawatts of solar power. The projects should be completed by early 2029.
*County Commissioners in Chatham County are putting a hold on large-scale data centers. The board passed a moratorium on Friday that will last roughly five months. It will only affect data centers of at least 10 megawatts. WSAV reports Commissioner Dean Kicklighter introduced the moratorium for a year-long period, but the county attorney recommended a shorter time.
*Authorities in Atlanta are investigating a road rage shooting that hospitalized a 20-year-old man. Police say the shooting happened early Saturday in Midtown. Investigators said gunfire struck a vehicle during the incident, hitting the victim while he was in the passenger seat.
